10 steps to getting your home upgraded

Step 1

Complete the full program application

It will take 5-10 business days to process your application.

Receive notice that you are ready to proceed

You and your property have qualified for the program. You have 75 days to plan your project.

Get an energy assessment from an Energy Advisor

These assessments (NRCan EnerGuide) determine your home’s energy rating and provide you with tailored recommendations for the most cost-effective upgrades for your specific home. They are provided by a third party, not your Retrofit Coach.

Step 4

Connect with your Retrofit Coach

Connect with your Retrofit Coach to discuss your energy assessment and your planned upgrades.

Collect contractor quotes and submit a Funding Request Form

Your Retrofit Coach can help you select upgrades and contractors and complete your form. Allow up to 10 business days to process your funding request.

Sign the Property Owner Agreement with Huntsville

This will allow you to receive 50% of project costs to help you cover the up-front costs of the renovation. Allow 2-4 weeks to receive your initial payment.

Get your upgrades installed

You have 12 months to complete your upgrades. Remember to keep all of your receipts. Expenses without receipts can’t be financed.

See what you’ve saved

Complete a post-upgrade home energy assessment to confirm your energy savings.

Submit a Project Completion Report

This includes your receipts and will allow you to receive the remainder of your project costs. Allow 2-4 weeks to receive your final payment.

Repayment

Repay your loan through your property taxes. Any incentives you qualify for will be deducted from the amount to be repaid. You can choose to pay off the balance owing in a lump sum at any point without penalty.
